Life’s an ocean with too much commotion

Chili Con Carne (our simple recipe)

by koenvereeken on Jun.15, 2007, under Food

Yesterday my girlfriend and I made Chili Con Carne. We googled for some recipes and selected the best from it. It was delicious and not too much work to prepare (20 minutes preparing and 30 minutes actual cooking). Here’s our recipe:

Chile con carne (2 persons)

Ingredients

  • 300g minced meat
  • 1 can of tomatoes (pieces)
  • 1 can of red beans (if you want extra taste, try to choose red beans with Chili flavor)
  • 1 green Spanish pepper, cut in very thin slices
  • 3/4 of a red paprika, cut in very thin slices
  • 1 onion
  • 1 garlic tooth
  • pepper and salt
  • Cayenne pepper
  • Chili herbs
  • Olive oil

Preparation

Put the olive oil in a pan, and stew the onion for a while. Add the minced meat, and let it bake. Add the pieces of tomatoes, the paprika, the Spanish pepper and the garlic (keep on stirring!). Afterwards, add the herbs (pepper, salt, Cayenne pepper and chili herbs) at your own taste. Let it bake for at least 20 minutes.

Finally, add the red beans (3/4 of the can) and let it bake for another 10 minutes. You can add Tabasco if you want to make it more spicy, but in my humble opinion, it will bungle the taste :-)

Enjoy your meal!
